Primrose Tax Law (the Firm) is bound by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, SC 200, c.5 (the Act).
We collect and hold personal information relating to our clients and to other people and entities associated with our clients as may be provided or disclosed to us in the course of business. Personal information may include but is not limited to names, addresses, telephone numbers, social media details, email addresses, occupations, wage records, bank account details, asset, and investment details, financial planning records, taxation records, medical records, and relationship details.
By submitting your personal information, you consent to the use of that information as set out in this policy and in accordance with the Act.
We may collect your personal information directly from you or through a third party with your consent. We ensure that none of your personal information is received from a third party in breach of the Act.
Why we collect your personal information
We possess and use your personal information for lawful purposes only. We collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information for the following reasons:
− to confirm identity, assess for conflicts of interest;
− to offer our services to you and enhance the quality of our services to you;
− to facilitate our internal and external administrative processes, including financial and business operations, and for reporting requirements;
− to obtain, maintain and comply with the terms of our professional indemnity and other insurance policies; and
− to comply with Rules of Professional Conduct in accordance with the respective provincial Law Society and applicable laws.
Further to our purpose of collecting your personal information, we may disclose them to a third party involved in our business operations. The Firm shall generally only disclose personal information to a third party as per client instructions and to provide services on our clients’ behalf; as required by the respective provincial Law Society and liability insurers; if the Firm engages a third party to provide administrative or other services for our benefit, in which case the Firm shall use contractual or other means to protect the personal information that is being provided to the third party; and where required by law.
The Firm shall disclose personal information only as permitted by law, including with the consent of individuals as appropriate. Service providers are not permitted to disclose your information to others.
How we receive and hold your personal information
We may receive and hold your personal information by electronic or physical means. Regardless of how we receive or hold your personal information, we use appropriate security based on the type and sensitivity of the stored data to protect them. Our security measures are also based on the applicable processing activity.
We secure hard copy documents carefully in and out of our office and use industry-standard cyber-security systems to protect electronic documents. We do not ask for bank details or other sensitive information by email.
Your rights to your personal information
You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all your personal information, please send an email to hello@primrosetax.ca or send a letter or visit our office in person at 1959 Upper Water St, Suite 1301, Tower I, Halifax NS B3J 3N2.
In line with our commitment to provide you with quality services, we require your most up-to-date information to help us in serving you. We urge you to advise us of any changes to any of your personal information we hold.
You may request we delete, remove, or edit your personal information from our records. You also may ask us to correct your personal information in our possession.
You may request us to restrict or discontinue the use and processing of your personal information under certain conditions provided by the law.
Please address all letters to Primrose Watson, as we commit to comply with any instructions we receive from you regarding your personal information to the extent permitted by the law.
Your rights to make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner are retained.

We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy at any time, for any reason, without your consent, or approval. The current version of the policy will always be available on this page. You will also receive email notification of any changes to our privacy policy if you consent to email communication.
